FIND WINDOWS AND DOORS WITH STYLE AND FUNCTION by AMANDA FLATTEN
Style, function, energy efficiency — these are all
important things to consider when you are replacing windows and
doors in your existing home or choosing them for your new home.
While it is a big investment initially, quality windows and doors pay
off big time in the long run. “Unlike buying a car, buying windows is a
once-in-a-lifetime investment,” says Darin Plummer, director of marketing
and sales for Pella Windows of Texas.
APPEARANCE
Years ago, options for windows and doors were limited to one or two
choices. These days, the choices are numerous. Consider the look of
your home when making a window purchase.
OPPOSITE:
Update the look of your home with a new entry system from Pella.
Pella fiberglass entry doors offer the classic, rich look of wood
without the work. Accent the door with a small panel or full-light
glass panel: Pella offers 11 distinctive decorative glass options.
“It’s important for windows and doors to match the architectural
style of your home for resale value,” Plummer says. “If you are
replacing the front entry door, it is the first thing people see. It
catches their eye.”
Shane McCullough, owner of the Dallas division of Adooring
Designs, which specializes in custom iron and glass doors and iron
window shutters, says the front door/entry is the most important part
of the house, adding to the home’s curb appeal and making the right
first impression.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
“One of the most important factors to consider when replacing windows
or doors is energy efficiency,” Plummer says, adding that all Pella
windows are Energy Star qualified. In fact, Pella was named the 2007
Energy Star Partner of the Year.
Russell Hill, president of Clear Choice USA in Arlington, says,
“Energy efficiency is a top consideration, especially in Texas because
homes generally have so many windows.”
